Default Help on pricing me tackle

Hi,

I used to fish So Cal. most of my adult life from Oceanside down to San Diego. I have become disabled (Veteran) and left the Coast to retire in the Mid-West. I sold most of my long-range and big ticket items when I left. I kept some tackle for local trips in case I got out there to fish with old friends. However, now I have become too disabled to fly or even be able to walk much. Looking for a way to price and sell my tackle for a decent price. I get confused often and am not able to get on-line much. I can take pictures and post them though. I am compiling a list of what I have. Thanks a bunch in advance for the tips...hope this is the right place. Thanks!

p.s. How do I ship 7-9 ft rods?

Sorry to hear about your disability. A good source for checking the price that your gear might sell for is E-Bay (www.ebay.com). Just type in the name of your item and after the screen and items on sale comes up click the box on the lett side of the page for "COMPLETED ITEMS". A good and cheap way to ship your rods is to use PVC pipe plus end caps which you can buy at most hardware stores. Hope you are able to sell your stuff for at least what it is worth.

Personally speaking, I wouldn't deal with eBay to sell your stuff. The percentage they get just isn't worth the trouble to me, and I used them for a few years to dump old inventory from my shop. Even for checking current prices, eBay can have so much variation that it can be confusing.

A better choice would be to post your stuff on the classified boards of fishing sites like this one right here! You usually get a better price for good gear from actual fishermen. People on eBay are all looking for a deal and the lowest they can get away with paying.

I use UPS exclusively for shipping stuff and have found them most reliable. The suggestion about using PVC pipe for shipping tubes is a good one and you really don't need anything more than schedule 20 pipe for most of them. I also rarely use end caps. Crumpled news paper or bubble wrap and duct tape is cheaper and works just fine. Keep in mind that anything over 8' in length is considered "oversized" and will be subject to an extra charge.

If you would like to have a good idea of what your stuff is worth, you may feel free to send me a list of your items via PM and I'll be happy to help you with that so you get the most you can out of what you're selling off.

AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!
