BIG "TIBURON" CAUGHT IN SAN QUINTIN BAY
According to an article in the Mexican newspaper "El Vigia" Alberto Flores Galindo aka "Tiburon", owner of Tiburon's Pangas in San Quintin, was caught, arrested and thrown in jail by officials of PROFEPA, which is the authoritive governmental agency responsible for monitoring outdoor activities with, among other duties, act similar to US Gamewardens. It appears that Mr. Alberto "Tiburon" Flores " was not only illegally hunting Brant geese with his clients, but was also in possession of a lot of dead birds that "well exceeded" the legal daily limit! The article only named one of the other hunters , an American Mr. Jon Wheler, however it did state that all shotguns were confiscated.
PROFEPA representatives said this was a "Big" catch because Mr. "Tiburon" Flores is the person in charge of all Brant shooting on the San Quintin Bay with the resposibility of coordinating the guides, monitoring and reporting the bird harvest, as well as policing the hunters. A source said that Mr. Alberto "Tiburon" Flores has historically been known for other questionable activities and has been suspect for sometime. With respect to hunting, it appeared that his clients were allowed to kill as many birds as their wallets could afford!
Two separate Mexican enviromental government agencies, PROFEPA and SEMARNAT, stated that persons like Mr. Flores should, as an example to others, be prosecuted to the maximum for flagrantly jeopardizing Mexico"s natural resources for the American dollar. However, witnesses stated that shortly after Mr. "Tiburon" Flores' release from a few hour stay in jail he bragged that his politcal contacts and a little "mordida" is what its all about. Well, hopefully this corruption doesn't really exist and the TIBURON will no longer be in charge of the Goosehouse!
