Jc Sportfishing Weekly Fish Report.
As the Admiral Seas It
Fishing Report: 2/10/14 to 2/17/14
Stop by Our Office for up to Date Fishing Report.

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. Jerry, explains that his charter business is geared more for families and novice anglers, making sure everyone who charters a boat with him have a great time and lots of fun. We welcome families, and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us. We have and do a few tournaments each year and can cater to fisherman who might be interested in tournament fishing. Lets get on with the report for this past week.

WEATHER: Windy conditions most of the week .The weather has been actually a little warmer than normal for this time of year. What winter we have here in Cabo has been really nonexistent so far this year with temperatures above average. I would say today it was pushing 85 to 90 degrees in the day time and lows into the ladder 50,s to mid 60,s

WATER: Cooler, water temperatures over the last 2 weeks has slowed fishing the bite down some, especially the Dorado and Tuna bite. When the cool water comes in we can expect a Yellowtail bite and always great Sierra and inshore action.
TUNA: The Tuna bite has really not been in the picture this last week and what there was is just a few foot ball sized Tuna being caught scattered out and not in schools.

BILLFISH: Marlin fishing has slowed down some but still decent numbers being caught the Golden Gate area has been the spot to catch Marlin. The wind has had an effect on the fishing as it has been pretty strong at times. Striped Marlin fishing continued to be the dominant fish on the pacific side throughout last week. Most of the fish are being caught drifting bait on the pacific side in the Golden Gate are and even like 3 or 4 miles off the Light House has been pretty good.
We have also had some luck off the Light House earlier in the week and the 1150 and 95 spots the fish were on the surface hitting lures. Also yesterday we have had reports of good fishing down in the San Jose area for Dorado and Wahoo. It seems the wind moved the fish from the pacific side to the Sea of Cortez side and I hear it is very fishable with no wind so we are going to start heading down there on Monday and try our luck.
DORADO: Very few Dorado around and any being caught are being caught along the beach on lures. Wish I had more to report for you but has slowed big time for Dorado

From The Admirals Kitchen
Super Grouper Recipe
A super, simple, broiled grouper fillet recipe for all of you grouper groupies. Fillets 1 inch thick take about 12 to 14 minutes to cook properly. If using thinner fillets, reduce cooking time accordingly."
1/2 cup butter, melted ¼ teaspoon ground white pepper
2 tablespoons lemon juice 2 pounds ground fillets
¼ tablespoon garlic salt 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
½ teaspoon dried parsley 1/8 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon paprika
Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Combine melted butter and lemon juice in a small bowl. Brush 2 tablespoons of this mixture on a piece of foil placed on the broiler pan.
  2. Mix together garlic salt, parsley, paprika and white pepper. Sprinkle spice mixture on both sides of fillets.
  3. Bake fillets until meat flakes, about 10 minutes. Brush fillets again with lemon butter and spread with mayonnaise. Sprinkle with paprika before serving.
INSHORE: Well the inshore fishing is still really good right now from the arch, if you don’t get kicked out, all the way up to Migrano and been fishing there rock piles about a ¼ mile offshore and we had one boat land 7 nice Yellowtail. Still good numbers of Sierras from Solmar beach to the Pump House and were getting lucky catching with hootchies , small Rapalas and cut bait producing some good size fish.
Lots of small Pompino on cut bait but you need to chunck to keep them around the boat but it has been really productive. You will find the Pompino not big in size but great to eat.
WAHOO: This week a slowed Wahoo bite reported compared to last week. There has been reports of Wahoo down around San Jose in the Sea of Cortez.
BEWARE: Please beware of the guys in the street selling boat charters. If you wait till the day you are fishing and go to the dock where your boat is many times people will mislead you to another boat or dock trying to put you on a boat that was not meant for you. You need to have a person guide you to your boat, who is from a reputable charter company. This way there is no confusion or misleading. Please remember when renting Sport fishing boats in Cabo that you rent your boat from reputable and established business. Walk into a fishing fleet office and ask questions about what you are getting and what are the costs? You dont want to rent boats from vendors in the streets and you do not want to book through shady websites offering you the world. Check through travel forums about reputable fishing fleets to deal with. Look for testimonials about the fleet your booking your charter with. Ask about what will the boat be supplying? Will it include beverages or lunches? How much does it cost to fillet your catch? Check to see if charter boat is insured? Ask about getting your catch smoked? Check cost of fishing license. These are just a few things to consider when booking your charter boat. We will be talking more about this in next weeks fishing report. Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon. Come by the office here in Cabo and get all the latest up to date fishing report. http://www.jcsportfishing.com [ame]http://youtu.be/Ld4X16bFT-c[/ame]
