Fishermen & Fisherwomen,

Are you in the Halibut Derby for this weekend? With the current action there will be big fish! Great fish are being landed.

The last minute Sign-Ups are today and Friday from 4 to 9 pm in Burton Chase Park in Marina Del Rey. Entry fee includes shirt and the Sunday's dinner! AND it supports a good cause!

Derby info is online at www.HalibutDerby.com

The Prizes are now coming fast now. We will have a very good Raffle in the park on Sunday.

We want to give Big Thank you's to sponsors donating items from...

- Pierpoint Landing who donated trips
- Sav On tackle for donating gear
- Maui Jim for glasses
- Seeker Rods
- Shimano
- Avet etc. etc.

And great support from Costa Del Mar Sunglasses
www.costadelmar.com

And a donated Kayak from the new tackle store Taylor Tackle. This will be a great Golden Ticket opportunity for those who want a fishing Kayak. I think it the new peddle powered type! Nice.

And long time supporter of the Derby is Lincoln Pico Tackle who I hear is staying open late Friday night for your last minute supplies!

Good luck.

Default MDR Halibut Derby - Bait report for the Derby

Hot News is the the Sardine are cured and ready to go says Larry of In-Seine Bait here in MDR!

He is only open today until 6 ish. (going out to fish for more) But will open tomorrow at 4 am sharp so you have fresh bait for the Derby's start fishing time of 5 am.

He has fully cured Sardine in two wells that he has been saving for this tournament! Two weeks of feeding and care! Nice baits. Most of the big fish being brought in lately, including 43 # and 47 # halibuts, have been on Sardine.

Prices are two tiered...

- Cured bait $30 full scoop and $20 half scoop
- Regular bait is $20 full scoop and $15 half scoop

And the regular baits are still good.

AND NEW NEWS:
Larry, owner of In-Seine Bait, just called me back to let you all know...

That he as his friend on the Long Beach Carnage going after Squid and will try to be in MDR by 4 am with Squid. If he can make enough bait by the time he has to leave the island to be her by 4 am... We might have SQUID at the docks. He will not know until 11 pm tonight.

Be sure to pull extra cash from the ATM so you will be able to get enough Candy Bait for the whole Derby Weekend!

I suggest tipping if you are appreciative of a good full bait tank.

In-Seine Bait is also donating to the MDR Halibut Derby super raffle!

Thank you Larry.

PS: Redondo - is also open and has bait... Open at 6 am closes at 1 pm.
