Default Japanese tackle shop in Japan

I just returned from a trip to Japan/Korea.
I had a opportunity to visit a tackle shop in Japan and I was in awe.
Here are pictures of jigging and popping tackle in the shop.

I was wondering the same thing, LOL.

Where is that shop? If I ever go to Japan, I would have to try to make a pilgramage...but leave my credit card at the hotel to avoid temptation and bankruptcy.

Hi Brad G,

There are lots of such big-box 6 and 7 story shops in Japan. They are usually a huge region or country-wide chain or an affiliated network store(kameiten). Tokyo (lots of chain stores including Joshuya- my favorite, etc. Outskirts like Kichijochi too), Yokohama, Sagamihara, Kanagawa, Osaka, and on and on !!

If you plan to go to Japan and live in the L.A. area, go to the mitsuwa supa ... store complex on Western and buy a Japanese fishing magazine !! It will have all the phone numbers and little maps of each location. More stores than you could visit in a lifetime. I know I spent 30 years in Japan .... sold to many of the tackle stores and never even got close to hitting half of the larger ones of them personally.

No credit cards to carry .... you'll need a suitcase to carry cash now with the exchange rate !! ha ha ha

The inventory of the shop could be over 10 million dollars easily.
Many rods shown are $500 - $1,000US and lures are $50 - $100.
It looks the makers of those expensive lures make lots of money, but I realize they don't.
I asked one maker of expensive lures at Yokohama Jigging and Popping show two years ago. He said he could make about 500 a year.
Even he sells at $50 per lures, he can make $25,000 annually.
Those expensive lures are seldom made by mass production.

Hi ksong,

$100 uh .... I've got maybe 200, 300 lures I bought throughout 20+ years and one of my most expensive lures was 35,000 yen for a hand-made, 2-inch, hard bait with price steps for my SW lures at 3,500~5,500, and 6,500~10,000 yen and up !! other than the bulk of the imported stuff !!

If I told guys what a lure cost me now .... they'd call me a liar !! Glad I bought them when I was flyin' real high in the Japanese business boom days !!

And now with the exchange rate ..... Oh my gosh !!
