Default Jigging and Popping opportunities on the Excel

I talked with David Geis, marketing director as well as one of new owners of the Excel today.
I am glad a reputable long range boat like the Excel shows interest in accommodating jigging and popping fishermen.
After I fished with 16 days trip on the Excel sponsored by Braid Products last December, I saw the huge potential of long range boats for jigging and popping fishermen.
The recent success of the Royal Star's tagging trip with some East Coast fishermen and Asia fishermen proved jigging and popping on long range boats is viable option.
I feel long range boats out of San Diego need new blood with younger generation and it is a right direction to accommodate jigging and popping fishermen who are mostly young throughout the world.
I love to see all jigging and popping fishermen all around the world enjoy jigging and popping on the long range boats in the near future.
Long range boats out of San Diego are perfect for jigging and popping fishermen as the rails are low and boats are very roomy to cast or jig. If Mexican Government allow to fish Revilligigedos Islands again,
it will be a paradise for jigging and popping fishermen.
Most jigging/popping fishermen don't keep any fish anyway.

Kil,
For many years I have appreciated and learned much from your excellent reports, information and tips.
Seriously,
Please don't ruin a fine reputation with gross generalizations like this one..

If my statement offends someone, I have to apologize for it.
There are many GT popping fishermen who travel around the world and I don't read/heard anyone wants to keep GT.
It seems most overseas fishermen coming to the US for fishing don't show any interest to bring fish home.
I arranged many trips for overseas fishermen for bluefin jigging/popping in Cape Cod and one one group brought tuna home.
We tagged/released most yft on the recent Panama trip and I expect to do the same thing on the possible Excel trip though I don't discourage to keep tuna to eat if they want.

update

After discussion and discussion, it seems the charter on the Excel will happen in Jan 2013. We are working out details of the trip now and all information will be announced next week barring any unexpected thing. This will be one of a kind trip.

Being that I have to travel the world for my fishing, I have to say I release 95% of my catch. In fact ,when I do the long range trips ,I ask whoever is next to me if they want anything I catch and give the crew one of their tags for the fish.Sometimes a Dorado or two heads for the galley . The only ones I use my tag on are any that might be in jackpot territory and after the weigh in, they are given away too.
With airport security being the way it is, eyebrows might be raised if I turned up with a wahoo under my arm .
The Excel trip sounds interesting.

There will be incentive who release tuna on the trip.
I am discussing with the Excel how to release them safely.

Thanks David.
One of the most famous Japanese fishermen showed interest in the trip. I hope he can join the trip.

Deposit Schedule

$500 by Sept 30, 2011
$550 by Oct 30, 2011
$1050 by Jan 31, 2012
$2095 by June 30, 2012

Contact the Excel (www.excelsportfishing.com) for the payment.
If you want to send checks, make sure you write down "Jan 22 - Feb 6 Jigging & Popping Trip".

We lose the charter if we don't meet deposit requirements.
Guys on the list, should send deposit in time not to lose their spots.

I had a fabulous giant fishing in PEI during Labor Days.
I have pretty good ideas what to use for cow now.
